5 Steps To Make Your Own Money
As most of you know, I work for myself comfortably. I’ve been working for myself comfortably for a few years. Built a sizeable youtube subscriber base, established two blogs, a product selling website a thriving email list and a decent social media following and I get paid for pretty much all of it.
So I wanted to share some steps I took to put myself in this position:
I had to come down off my high horse and strip myself of any entitlement that I thought I had. I had to come to terms with the fact that I wasn’t where I wanted to be, simply because of my choices or lack of. Nobody has to afford me any opportunity. If I want something, then I need to do what is needed to make sure that happens, I can’t blame or expect from anyone else to make that happen for me. It’s me, my fault if I fail and credit to me if I succeed.
‘I Don’t Know It All’.
I had to spend a large part of my ‘grinding’ on seeking the right information. The reason I didn’t know what to do…was that I didn’t know what to do. As simple as it sounds if you don’t know what to do…google it or ask someone else who does. I actually started my whole journey by using google. Let me share the story of how I got started marketing in this video below.
Less Spending/More Investing.
I didn’t have a lot of money to invest, to begin with, and when I started writing down my expenditures I discovered the problem. $3 here, $2 there, $7 here, $13 here, $26 there. I had to re-assess what I did and didn’t need to spend money on. No more eating out when I didn’t need to, no fancy meaningless stuff. I started investing instead in tools & resources.
One thing to bear in mind is how much it costs to even HAVE a business let alone profit.
For example as a producer/marketer I need:
Beat store: $19.99 pcm
Multiple Websites: $40 pcm
Email autoresponder: $25 pcm
That’s not including some of the other tools and resources I need. I probably pay over $200 a month in tools and resources. In the beginning, I couldn’t treat myself or spoil myself, even now to this day I stay careful. Having a business is a responsibility not only to yourself but your customers and clients, it’s not for people who are indecisive, lack willpower or those who aren’t willing to sacrifice.
Get Out Of My Comfort Zone.
I had to get out of my comfort zone. I’m not a particularly sociable person but I had to start reaching out to others and build conversations. I had to abandon my feelings on ‘I’m this kind of person’ or ‘I want to do it this way or no way’ and just do what needed to be done regardless of how I felt about it. Running a business requires adaptation. While keeping your morals intact is essential, not doing something because ‘it’s not your thing’ is a cop out. We have to do what we have to do, point blank period.
I had to stop being afraid to fail, even where money is involved. Money is just money, I’ve made quick flips before, I’ll do it again If I have to. I had to fail, I had to learn what I was doing wrong in action. I had to develop my formula based on what works and what doesn’t fail. I had youtube series’ that flopped, I fluffed almost a grand on Facebook Ads, hundreds on google Ads etc. I bet you I won’t make the same mistakes again.
These are 5 solid principles to Make Your Own Money that have served me throughout this whole journey. Tried and tested I know for sure if you apply these to what you do you will progress.
Now all there is for you to do is to go out there and do it.
